Our project in Morocco is different and special. We’ve developed an annual international event in hopes to highlight the BMX not only in Morocco, but in Africa. Riders from other African countries have shown interest and excitement to come, usually it’s hard for African riders to take part in BMX events because most of them take place in Europe or USA, places where immigration laws are really strick. They get often their visas denied. The SABSAS jam is an attempt to create an event where every rider is welcome regardless of their passport. So far we have had two editions, one in Marrakech, one in Casablanca and we are organising the 2023 edition which I’ll further explanation can be found below.
Casablanca
This year 2022, we went to Casablanca, where we met Abdelhadi Mansour [@man_souurr] and Ayoub Errami, both of them BMX ridders.
Them help us to organize the logistics for a Street Jam, showing us good sports for example.
There was where we distribute the craft parts and prizes that we create from Share a Smile Movement e.V with the donated BMX parts that cannot be reused.
Marrakesh
The first time we went to Morocco was last year, in 2021 in the city of Marrakesh, where we were supporting a local diy called Ambar Spot.
The people we collaborated with and allowed us to introduce “Share a Bike – Share a Smile in Morocco were Assil [@assil_captain_bmx] and Mehdi [@mehdighinati].
They helped us with the logistics necessary to go ahead the event and also hosted us in their houses! What made it more comfortable to face all the organizational processes
